• San Gabriel Valley Water Company - Los Angeles Division

  • Background

On July 16, 2010 San Gabriel Valley Water Company filed its application to increase rates for water service in its Los Angeles County Division by:

    • $10.2 million or 17.8% in 2011
    • $1.8 million or 2.6% in 2012
    • $2.2 million or 3.2% in 2013
    • $1.3 million or 2.1% in 2011 in its Fontana division
  • Public Advocates Office (the Office)'s Policy Position

Proposed Decision was issued August 26, 2011 affirming the Office's position that customers should not have to pay for contamination-related expenses while there are $11 million in settlement proceeds that should be used for this purpose. However, the PD does allow San Gabriel to collect from ratepayers $166,000 per year in legal costs for enforcing the contamination settlement. The Office argued that this cost should be paid for by the credit balance of the settlement proceeds.
